Nicola Villa

Nicola Villa

Born in 1976 in Lecco, Italy. Lives and works in Genoa.

Nicola Villa is an Italian artist working across painting and digital media,

focusing on the human condition through images drawn from everyday urban experience. His works develop suspended, introspective narratives marked by subtle tension and psychological depth. After graduating in Architecture from the Politecnico di Milano in 2004, he devoted himself entirely to artistic practice.

His work has been exhibited internationally since the early 2000s and is held in public and private collections. In 2011 he was invited to contribute to the New Ambrosian Gospel commissioned for Milan Cathedral, producing a cycle of illustrations alongside other artists.

Digital media has always been central to his research, evolving from a tool supporting physical works into an autonomous language that integrates digitized materials with native digital processes.

In 2024, together with Mauro Spagnoli, he co-founded Visual Substance, a project dedicated to interactive installations and live audiovisual performances.

Since 2024, he has been a lecturer at Accademia di Belle Arti Santa Giulia, Brescia.
